The beautiful community of Shore Acres in St. Petersburg, Florida is a peninsular coastal community on the east coast of Pinellas County. Extending from Mangrove Bay and Tanglewood into Old Tampa Bay, it is connected to Snell Isle and Northeast Park by bridges. Weedon Island State Preserve is to the north and to the east. Shore Acres offers waterfront real estate with several luxury homes on the bay and on canals that lead out to open water. Here you’ll find single family homes with the majority ranging in size from three bedrooms to over five bedrooms. There are over 2,200 residences in Shore Acres Primarily built between 1970 and 1999, the area does have a some homes built as early as 1949. Shore Acres has also had some newer construction resulting from teardowns. While Shore Acres homes will be located in a flood zone, homeowners here find it worth it to be so close to the Bay. Homes here range anywhere from $300,000 to several million for homes on open water.
While there is no mandatory homeowners association in Shore Acres, there is a very active voluntary Shore Acres Civic Association with it’s associated Facebook page that neighbors post on frequently. WHAT’S CLOSE TO SHORE ACRES?
Nearby 4th Street offers many restaurant options such as Ciccio’s, Tour de Pizza, El Cap, Better Byrd and many more. You’ll find a drive thru Kahwa Coffee close by right on 40th Ave NE. and B&N Market is a convenience store within the community on Chancellor. For groceries – the “Dualing Publixs” are at either corner of 40th Ave NE – yes there really are 2 Publix grocery stores directly across from one another. As for schools, Shore Acres Elementary is right within the community. There is also Canterbury (private) on 62nd and the Snell Isle location for up to grade 4, and Shorecrest (private) on 1st Ave NE and LCC Day School on Chancellor. You will find a park in Shore Acres at 40th Ave NE and Shore Acres Boulevard and the Shore Acres Rec center.
What else can you do for fun in the community? This is also a great place to ride bikes, go fishing, walk the dog or go for a run. Also there is an aquatic facility with one wade pool perfect for toddlers, plus a six lane pool, covered playground, half court basketball court, picnic shelter and there are a variety of programs for youth, teens and adults.
The aforementioned Shore Acres Civic Association is often putting together fun events like “Flick n Float” – movies in the community pool as well as events around major holidays.
