If daydreams were tangible they would be Pinterest. Little pins of perfection posted to boards that inspire us to live better, love better and be better. It’s there for every stage of our lives asking us to aim higher and achieve more. From the perfect kitchen to the signature cocktail to be served at a birthday party, Pinterest is there for us. If you’re about to buy a home, you probably have dozens of boards dedicated to each room in the house. What do you want your kitchen to look like? How should you organize your laundry room to make it as efficient as possible? What light fixture will you choose for your bedroom?
The good news is you aren’t alone in your obsession. Millions of us, including myself, are right there with you. I spent months planning my daughter’s birthday party on Pinterest. It took me weeks to cut out all of the perfect little party printables I purchased and I spent more hours than I care to admit making sure the straws had little tags that said “One-derful”. Pinterest brings out my obsessive perfectionist persona. Cue my husband’s eye roll. Thanks to Pinterest my pantry looks like a farmer’s market and my family room is about to get a makeover. My dream house is constantly evolving and my pocketbook is trying to keep up!
The savvy folks at TechInsider probably ran some data and realized their employees were spending their free time on Pinterest building their dream homes when they weren’t being techie so they ran some numbers. What they came up with is the Pinterest dream home. The site asked Pinterest to fork over the most popular pins for the exterior and every room in the house. EOnline went one step further and attempted to put a price tag on the house made of Pinterest dreams. It turns out it will cost you about $2,522,140 dollars to have it and they say that’s probably a VERY conservative estimate.
The curb appeal of this fabulous home earned it the title of “most pinned” on Pinterest. It’s the start of a magnificent house of dreams. Inside Pinterest users picked this living room as their favorite according to TechInsider.
The soft gray walls are certainly in keeping with the current design trends. Soaring ceilings and beautiful driftwood floors make the rest of us green with envy over this fabulous room.
They say the kitchen is the soul of the home and Pinterest users picked a beautiful one as their favorite. Complete with white cabinets and white and gray marbled granite this kitchen is almost too lovely to cook in!
The dream master bedroom is surprisingly simple but the beautiful chandelier over the bed is stunning. The walls have a tint of sage to them and the bed looks plush and inviting. Who wouldn’t want to kick their feet up in this room after a long day at the office?
Almost as important as the bedroom is the master bathroom! This one is all white with a his and her sink and luxurious carrara marble countertops.
Now for my personal favorite room in the Pinterst dream home…. the closet! I have to admit I have a wall dedicated to dream closets and I’ve often thought of trying one of those “do it yourself” blogs. I know it would not end well for me so for now I’ll just dream about the day when my closet looks like it belongs on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
From the girl’s dream closet to the man cave – we can’t forget about the guys! This man cave doesn’t disappoint. An all brick garage that includes a living area and a loft. It might not be realistic but it’s certainly fun to look at.
Last but not least the backyard. The Pinterest dream home knows that you’ll want to spend your evenings snuggled up by a fire pit with a glass of wine. You’ll also want to grill a great meal in your outdoor kitchen. And of course, fire pairs perfectly with water so they’ve included a water element as well.
You can find all of these pins on Pinterest along with millions of other ideas that will have you ready to pick up a hammer and nails and get to work. Pinterest should come with a warning to let people know they might end up trying to do things they shouldn’t or maybe you’ll discover you are a do-it-yourselfer at heart.
