Talk about a luxury distress sale! One of Tampa largest estates, a 10-bedroom, 13 bathroom (plus 6 half baths!) mansion located in the elite Avila community was listed for $6.5 Million by Smith & Associates Real Estate last week. The home was formerly owned by disgraced corporate raider Paul Bilzerian. In 1989, when Bilzerian’s net worth was $81 million, he was sentenced to more than a year in prison for securities fraud and tax crimes tied to several failed corporate takeovers. In 1992, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission won a $62 million judgment from Bilzerian for illegal stock manipulation.
The gated brick mansion sits atop 3.4 acres and features an “athletic wing” with an indoor basketball court, a wine room, elevator and four fireplaces. Sprawling more than 28,000 square feet, even the guest house alone is the size of an executive estate, with four bathrooms, a study and twin fireplaces.
Check out the tax bill alone on this place…$76,000 a year currently!
